True happiness and inner peace come from within us.
We do not need expensive things to achieve these, the littlest thing or the littlest gesture can make us happy from within and leave an everlasting ray of hope within us.
Spending time with our family or pet, doing simple things like helping our neighbor, doing that small dance, pursuing our childhood hobby like drawing, music etc. can bring a huge difference in our life and give us a sense of fulfillment and enjoyment in our life that even a super expensive vacation or possession may not give.
Every morning looking at flowers blooming in my garden, spending some time with my husband and kids before they head off to work/school gives me immense positive energy, makes me think life is definitely worth living.
Happiness and peace are not difficult to find at all.
The key to both lies within us. All we have to do is get away from our self-doubts, fears, and insecurities, negative thoughts that have surrounded us and open ourselves to simple values of love, forgiving and belief in spiritual health.
Sometimes we feel so spiraled down in despair and grief that we fail to see a solution staring right at us and take rash, foolish, wrong decisions which have consequences that might affect not only us but also our near and dear ones.
We might spend a fortune on getting medical attention for this spiritual problem: the solution to which is in our own hands, we end up on mood-altering medications with side effects -to control which we take other medicines, there goes an ongoing circle…
So, let’s talk a little about spiritual health which has been explained in the ancient Vedas of Hinduism.

“Build your inner environment. Practice silence! I remember the wonderful discipline of the Great Ones. When we used to talk and chatter, they would say “Go back into your inner castle.” It was very hard to comprehend then, but now I understand the way of peace.” – Paramahansa Yogananda.
The root cause of a lack of inner peace is that people do not fully understand the true nature of art of living.
Practicing the art of living has been the way of Hinduism; it is not a religion in the strict sense of the word, it is an art of living; it is a culture. Anyone in pursuit of truth (positive energy) is practicing Hinduism.
The Vedas are the original scriptures of Hinduism and suggest an ethical way of living called the dharma.

We often hear the sacred syllable OM (actually AUM).
AUM is the most powerful mantra for peace of mind.
AUM is a holy character of Sanskrit language which signifies the Trinity, the three supreme Gods-Brahma, the creator, Vishnu, the preserver and Shiva, the destroyer.
AUM represents the whole universe.Moksha or Mukti is the release from the cycle of rebirth driven by the law of karma. When a person is enlightened, they grasp the true nature of reality and they are less attached to worldly pleasures. They have self realization and break free from bonds of greed, jealousy, revenge and other stressors in life. They attain spiritual peace and calmness.
Happiness (Khushi) is a state of well-being that encompasses living a good life, one with a sense of meaning and deep contentment.
Inner Peace ( Shanti) or peace of mind refers to being in a state of calmness and serenity free from the effects of stress.Happiness and inner peace have different definitions for everyone. They carry different values from person to person.
They are actually the essence of life, the two things that every human in this world strives for in his or her way.In the materialistic race to achieve these spiritual goals, we often lose our focus and end up frustrated, purposeless, alone and resentful. As someone wise has said, “Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.”
The key to finding inner solace and moksha (freedom from incarnations) has been explained in the Vedic Puranas since times immemorial.
One of the ways suggested is to forgive and forget.

Forgiveness is a virtue and adds to positive karma and leads to self-purification of our soul.Because of human nature, we keep remembering the stories and sorrows of the past.
We keep thinking how people were rude or unkind to us or we remember our unpleasant or unfortunate situations or events from the past which now we have absolutely no control on.
We sometimes spend years of bitterness and resentment against someone and in this process can never get rid of that past and thus lose our present.
We should try to let past be past and concentrate on the present and the future, as soon these will become past too.
As we know that the clock is ticking!
Instead of focusing on blaming others, we should try to divert that effort into channeling positive energy and performing positive karma. We should use spiritual knowledge to attain inner peace.
It starts first with forgiving others and letting go. This leads to self-healing and generates spiritual happiness and peace.
